Al-Tīn

This sūrah was revealed in Mecca and consists of 8 verses. It reminds the audience of the resurrection and divine retribution through charting the path of humankind. They are initially created in the ideal form, but then they differ with respect to whether or not they remain faithful to their pristine nature. Some depart from it and degenerate into the lowest of the low. Divine wisdom necessitates distinguishing between the consequence that each group will meet.

This chapter is likely Meccan given the verse: And by this secure land (). However, that is not explicit. Therefore, it could also be Medinan, having been revealed after the Prophet’s migration, at a time when he was back to Mecca.

This is the ʿAllāmah's introduction to the sūrah, from the opening of the commentary.
